National Baking Week - Getting Britain Baking

about national baking week

When is National Baking Week?

National Baking Week 2009 will take place from the 19th to 25th October - so make sure you put it in your diary!

What is National Baking Week?

National Baking Week has been launched to encourage Britain to 'Get Baking!' During the week, we aim to show you the value and pleasures of home baking and how to make it a part of your daily life. Although we are all busy, turning on the oven and getting baking can quickly and easily produce fabulous food for you and your loved ones.

What do we mean by 'Bake 5'?

'Bake 5' are simple and quick recipes, using 5 main ingredients, taking just 5 minutes to prepare but giving great results. This site includes 5 savoury and 5 sweet recipes, one for each night of the week. We want to inspire you to 'Get Baking' and the easiest way is to Bake 5. Visit the recipes section of this site to see the Bake 5 recipes along with more complex ones for 'Easy Dinner Parties' and 'Weekend Treats'. We have also included some recipes for Halloween to make more of pumpkins than just lanterns.

Who's involved?

Baking Week 2008 involved nine key partners who joined together to 'Get Britain Baking'. Partners included Pyrex, Kenwood, Fairy, Schwartz, President Butter, Tate & Lyle, Allinson Flour, British Lion Eggs and Philadelphia. Check out the partners page to see why they got involved with Baking Week.
